How to Wash Your Heated Clothing

by Randy Quillamar

After a few adventures—whether hiking, cycling, skiing, or just grabbing pizza—your favorite heated jacket is bound to get a bit grubby. But don’t worry! You can wash it without wrecking the heating elements. Here’s how to give your Evofash heated gear a fresh start.

Step 1: Take Out the Battery

First things first—unzip that pocket and remove the battery. This is key! Your battery doesn’t like water, so make sure it’s out before you do anything else.

Step 2: Tuck in the Connector Cable

Once the battery is gone, put the connector cable back in and zip up the pocket. This keeps it safe while your jacket gets a wash.

Step 3: Use a Mesh Laundry Bag

To protect the delicate wiring, pop your heated jacket into a mesh laundry bag. This extra layer of protection will help keep everything intact.

Step 4: Machine Wash It

  • Skip the Dry Cleaners: Your heated jacket prefers a gentle spin in your washing machine over dry cleaning. Plus, this saves you money! If yoRandy Quillamaru have a washer with an agitator, definitely use that mesh bag—or even toss it in a pillowcase.
  • Cold and Gentle Cycle: Set your machine to a gentle cycle with cold water. Trust us, your Evofash loves the cold!
  • No Bleach: Avoid bleach at all costs; it can seriously damage your heated clothing.

Step 5: Let It Dry

  • No Wringing or Twisting: Resist the urge to wring it out! This can mess up the wiring.
  • Line Dry: Your heated gear doesn’t belong in a dryer. Hang it up to dry or lay it flat on a towel, flipping it occasionally to ensure even drying.
  • No Ironing: Take it out of the washing machine as soon as you can to prevent wrinkles—ironing is a no-go.

Step 6: You’re Ready to Go!

That’s it! You’re all set to wear your heated vest again. With these easy steps, it’ll be fresh and ready for your next outing.

How to Store Your Heated Clothing

  • Battery Care: Before storing, remove the battery and make sure it’s partially charged. This helps it last longer, and hey, it can double as a power bank for your devices!
  • Keep It Dry: Store your heated gear in a dry place to keep the electrical parts safe. A cool, moisture-free area is best.
  • Don’t Compress: Hang your gear or lay it flat to prevent damaging the heating elements. Folding is fine, just avoid squishing it too much.
  • Easy Access: Keep one piece handy for those surprise cold days or trips. Being prepared is key!
Now you can confidently give your heated jacket or vest a wash whenever it needs it. Remember, you don’t have to wash it every time you wear it, but you’ll know when it’s time for a clean.
